Whether you love history and heritage, or whether you prefer aliens, time travelling and Dr Who, Lichfield's Heritage Weekend is a must-do date for your diary!
The jam packed Heritage Weekend is set to feature a range of activities for all ages with events taking place across the city. From having your photo taken in city's spooky cells, to following an alien quiz around the city's heritage attractions, to enjoying a piece of Birthday Cake at the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum. The weekend also features lots of FREE tours, including walking tours of the city, tours of cathedral, tours of the cellars at Erasmus Darwin House and tours of Mavesyn Ridware.
For kids young and old there is also FREE face painting in the Market Square. And anyone who completes one of our quizzes is in with the chance to win top prizes. From a Darlek Voice changer, to an iPod Shuffle, to dinner for two at Barton Marina.
Lizzie Thatcher, Tourism Manager at Visit Lichfield said: "This is a fantastic weekend for all the family. Whether you want a full day out, or just something fun to entertain the kids in the afternoon, head on down to the Heritage Weekend. The events are running throughout Saturday and Sunday, so there's plenty of things to join in with. Kids will also love the great Alien cakes that will be on sale at the Heritage Centre, and the opportunity to walk through time with characters from the past. And, there's great prizes on offer too, so come along and have loads of fun!"
She added: "To find out more, pick up one of our great leaflets from our award winning tourist information centre in the Lichfield Garrick, or visit our website www.visitlichfield.co.uk. Places on some of the tours are limited, so please book your FREE place by calling 01543 412112 to avoid disappointment. But, with all heritage sites open for free throughout the weekend, including a rare opening of Dr Milley's hospital on Saturday, there's loads to do, even if you don't take a tour, come and join in the fun!"
