"Changing The Way You Eat For Good!" Bread "For Women" - Leading The Folic Acid Debate

Published: 3rd June 2007 20:32

The Food Doctor LogoAfter years of campaigning, the FSA finally agreed last week to recommend to the government that folic acid be added to bread via flour. The idea that bread in Britain will be compulsorily made with folic acid, as in so many other countries, receives total support from The Food Doctor.

Ian Marber and the nutrition experts at The Food Doctor have been campaigning on the importance and raising awareness of including folic acid in a balanced diet, for several years, not just to prevent the possible incidence of neural defects, but also since folates are so important to the vast majority of the population. This was the impetus behind the creation of The Food Doctor ‘Bread for Women' of which two slices will provide 100%* of the RDA of folic acid.

The Food Doctor launched their ‘Bread for Women' earlier this year, several months ahead of the FSA folic acid debate. The bread is designed especially For Women, created by The Food Doctor experts to meet the nutritional requirements of today's women, who all too frequently face the challenges of stressful lives, depleted food sources and lack of time to do anything meaningful about the problems that these can cause to their health.

Tasting delicious and made with high quality whole meal flour, jumbo oats and kibbled soya, each loaf is also fortified with the various nutrients widely acknowledged to be essential for female well being.
Just two slices of The Food Doctor Bread ‘For Women' provides:

133% of the RDA of Folic Acid
83% of the RDA of Calcium
67% of the RDA of Zinc
33% of the RDA of Vitamin E
24% of RDA of Iron
4.4g of Fibre

The Food Doctor Bread for Women has no added Sugars and is also a good source of Protein.
The packaging continues The Food Doctor style of clarity and transparency, allowing the consumer to see what they are buying, whilst the labeling clearly explains the benefits of the product, as well as the traditional nutritional information.

Bread for Women joins the current range of The Food Doctor products, and encompasses two of the most important principles of Ian Marber, The Food Doctor - eating little and often, and combining protein with complex carbohydrates. The breads contain both complex carbohydrates and are a source of protein, which can be further enhanced with the addition of The Food Doctor Omega Butter - (Sainsbury, Waitrose, Tesco and many independents)

The bread is suitable for those on a vegetarian or vegan diet.
Other Breads in The Food Doctor Range include:
• Multi Seed and Cereal - High fibre bread, rolls and pitas with seeds and cereal
• Multi Seed and Cereal with Dates and Cranberry - High fibre with seeds, cereal and packed with delicious dates and cranberries
• Essential Omega - Soft Brown bread with seeds, specifically designed to provide a source of essential omega fats
• High Fibre Bagels - with wheat bran and The Food Doctor Seed Mix - look out of the new seed with cranberry variety
For Women Bread is priced from £1.39 and is available from Waitrose, Tesco and Asda nationwide.
