New tours from Wrights Air, South Australia

Outback scenic and charter flight specialist, Wrights Air, offers a number of light aircraft tours and flights from Coober Pedy and South Australia's smallest town, William Creek. Areas visited include the spectacular Painted Desert, Oodnadatta, Dalhousie Springs, the vast Lake Eyre and Anna Creek - the world's largest working cattle station. Two new touring options include a full day Aboriginal art tour to the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Lands, one of South Australia's most inaccessible and remote Aboriginal settlements, and a scenic flight over the spectacular and recently discovered Anna Creek Painted Hills, accessible only by air. www.wrightsair.com.au

Once Upon Maria guided day trip, Tasmania

Once Upon Maria is a guided, one-day tour of the spectacular Maria Island, just a 40 minute ferry crossing from Hobart. Maria Island, once a penal colony, was declared a sanctuary for endangered species in 1971 and a National Park in 1972. As a result, the island is a 'Noah's Ark' of Tasmanian endemic wildlife within a setting of carefully conserved penitentiary architecture. The guided day trip offers the opportunity for a close-up encounter with Tasmanian wildlife as explorers walk among the island's interesting buildings and through the beautiful hinterland. It also includes a cruise around the stunning northern end of the island and through the Mercury Passage that separates Maria from the Tasmanian mainland. www.mariaisland.com.au

Despite only being constructed just over a year ago, the breathtaking coastal scenery, remote terrain, magnificent forests, abundant wildlife and colourful heathlands will ensure that this new walk will quickly become as iconic as it's neighbouring road. The track offers a variety of walking experiences, including remote cliff top walking trails as well as tracks that meander along gentle forest gradients and pristine sandy beaches. www.greatoceanwalk.com
