Are You Ready For Sustainable Sausage Saturday On The 21st April?
| Published: 15th April 2007 09:26 |
The team at National Downshifting Week would like you to have a Sustainable Sausage Saturday!
Cooking from fresh and sourcing local ingredients from good food producers could have a significant and positive impact on our local and global environments.
Reduced food miles pays dividends all round and putting money back into the pockets of our wonderful, local producers can make an amazing difference too.
Follow these simple tips and celebrate a bit of simple, green living on the 21st April.
1) Walk, cycle or car-share with friends or neighbours, to your local butcher, farm-shop or good food producer and buy some delicious sausages.
2) Request your bangers come from a local, free-range source, maybe even try some organic ones!
3) If you prefer a vegetarian option, try your local health food shop, or why not try something from the Redwood Wholefood Co Ltd
4) Cook-up the classic, Sausage, Mash and Onion Gravy for your lunch or dinner! (I'll be posting this and a few other sausagie recipes on the website soon, so keep an eye on www.DownshiftingWeek.com)
5) Celebrate Sustainable Sausage Saturday and spread the word.
Better still, enjoy it with a few friends and inspire them to 'Slow Down and Green Up' too!
National Downshifting Week is a non-profit, 'grassroots' awareness campaign, designed to encourage participants to 'slow down and green up'.
