Whittington F.C. Albion have won the Under 8 League Championship in the Tamworth Junior League.
The team, which is managed by Rick Sbarra, is in its first season of competitive football and took the league championship after winning 15 out of 16 games scoring over 100 goals and conceding only 6.
They clinched the title after edging out closest rivals Grendon Blades 2-1 thanks to a crucial save from Joe Edwards followed by a last minute winner from Joseph Sbarra in a thrilling penultimate game.
Club Chairman Steve Kirk said "We are absolutely delighted for the team and all the parents and supporters. This is the third season running that our newest Under 8's team have won a league title and this is testament to all the hard work put in by Rick and the players, and also by Paul Agnew, coach of our Saturday Soccer Centre where all the boys originally started out. Several of the squad have already been scouted by professional clubs and we hope they will enjoy even more success in the years to come".
