Feast of Free Vegan Food at Fair On Saturday 12th April, a Free Vegan Food Fair in Lichfield is expected to attract many hundreds of people. A vast array of free food will be on offer in order to demonstrate how delicious, appetising and varied vegan cuisine has become. Organisers are promising to tempt the taste buds of even the most committed carnivores!! There will be free recipes for visitors to take away, and a wide selection of nutrition factsheets, health magazines, vitamin wallcharts and guides to going & being vegan. Fair goers can watch cookery demos and seek advice at a `Nutritional Question and Answer` session (more details below). There will be stalls offering a range of information, food and products suitable for a vegan lifestyle. Admission is free.
Free vegan food fair in Kings Heath - Nov 07 The event is the second fair to be organised by Midlands Vegan Campaigns (MVC). The first was held in Kings Heath, Birmingham in November and attracted approx 700 people, approx 50% of whom were meat eaters (photo attached & link to report below). MVC now intends to stage similar events across the region. MVC event coordinator, Peter Willis, said "People who choose not to eat animal products do so for a whole range of reasons, not the least being that a varied vegan diet lowers the risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers and increases life expectancy. It also eliminates suffering and saves the lives of thousands of animals as well as being a lot kinder to the planet.
Vegan food is not only nutritious but it's delicious too, as everyone visiting our Free Vegan Food Fair will discover." "Whether you`re already seeking to change your diet or just curious to learn why so many people are switching to plant based diets, this is the event for you!!" "There`ll be everything from homemade dishes such as `Creamy Leek Croustade` and delicious desserts like `Choccie Banana Cake with Fudge Icing`, to samples of vegan cheeses, sausages, burgers etc, that are now widely available in high street shops & supermarkets.
With free admission and so much free food, you can`t go wrong!" The fair is being held at the Lichfield Guildhall on Bore Street, and will be open from 12 noon - 4pm.
Anyone seeking more information can find full details, including the timetable for the cookery demos etc, on the MVC website, www.veganmidlands.org.uk, or by calling 01527 458395.
