Venture House Open for Business

This August Lichfield District Council's Community Training Centre opened its brand new doors to learners
Venture House, Lichfield District Council's Community Training Centre, has moved into its brand new purpose built home on Davidson Road. The new facility, part of the £28 million City Wharf development, is even bigger and better than before.
Venture House includes an updated computer suite, several learning rooms and a state of the art conference room, complete with wireless broadband, which is available for hire to local employers and community groups. It will be a great setting to run the District Council's various Learning programmes including the E2E (Entry to Employment) scheme and PAYP (Positive Activities for Young People), which helps young people progress into work or further education.
Councillor Matthew Ellis, Deputy Leader of Lichfield District Council, said: "This new learning facility is something the people of Lichfield District can be truly proud of. It reflects the hard work undertaken in partnership between District Council officers and Advantage West Midlands in agreeing the funding package. I'm confident that more people than ever before will be learning new skills here."
Lichfield District Council works in partnership with Connexions Staffordshire on programmes to support young people aged between 13 and 19, and are delighted the Lichfield Connexions Centre will be based on the ground floor of Venture House from mid September.
Guy Jones, District Manager for the East Division of Connexions Staffordshire, said: "We are looking forward to moving to Venture House and working in partnership with other organisations in the Lichfield area. We think Venture House will be an ideal place for us to carry out our work, not only with young people but also with adults and families."
As part of the overall funding package for City Wharf, Lichfield District Council, who owned the land the original Venture House stood on, negotiated the relocation of the training centre. This included £650,000 funding from Advantage West Midlands.
Andy Bird, Development Manager of Advantage West Midlands, said: "Venture House has provided Lichfield with a state-of-the-art training facility that will benefit the local community. A key regeneration scheme on the edge of the city centre is now firmly under way, with quality accommodation being developed on reclaimed semi-derelict land."
Built by Redrow, the new centre is a modern airy building, and a perfect environment for residents to learn new skills.
Steve Dodds, Commercial Development Director of Redrow, added: "We're delighted Venture House is now complete and know the community training team are thrilled to have moved into their new home. We look forward to further completions on the site and hope that more businesses will follow in the footsteps of Lichfield District Council."
