13th August - Last call for Quality Landlords Training Day
| Published: 22nd July 2008 12:37 |
Lichfield District Council's housing team is hosting a discounted training day for local landlords on the 13th August. The training aims to help local landlords make sure their tenants are living in safe, secure and well managed properties. As part of the training, landlords will sign up to the Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme which is being launched in the Lichfield District. Cllr Val Richards, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Leisure at Lichfield District Council, said: "Thousands of local people live in rented homes, and we want to help make sure that where they live is safe and secure. Many of our more vulnerable residents also live in rented accommodation, and we want to make sure that their needs are considered and that they are well looked after by their landlords."
She continued: "The Council is sponsoring this training because we think it's so important that local landlords get chance to sign up to the Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme. The scheme recognises responsible landlords, and gives tenants and prospective tenants the reassurance that where they live is well looked after, and that their needs will be considered."
Landlords who attend the day will sign up to the scheme's Code of Conduct and become members of the scheme. This will demonstrate they are committed to providing quality accommodation to their tenants, and their commitment will be recognised across the region.
To register for the discounted scheme membership, which usually costs £100, but is being offered for £50, call the team on 01543 308716.
