10th December - Private Landlords' Forum
| Published: 27th November 2007 11:40 |
Monday 10th December at 10am to 1pm at District Council House, Lichfield
To help make sure rented homes in our district are good places to live, we work closely with local private landlords, and recently launched a new Private Landlords' Forum.
Councillor Val Richards, Cabinet Member for Community, Housing and Health, said: "All the landlords who came along to the first forum in September told us they found it useful, and many gave us ideas about the topics they want to discuss at future meetings. This has been fed into planning the next Forum, which is being held at District Council House, Frog Lane on Monday 10th December from 10am to 1pm."
The Forum will feature a presentation on a proposed online lettings service that would cover South Staffordshire and North Warwickshire. The website could offer potential tenants all they need to find a rented property in their chosen region. It may also be an opportunity for landlords to promote their properties inexpensively and to access vetted tenants.
Because Lichfield District Council is working closely with Tamworth Borough Council on the internet lettings service and other projects, they are also encouraging landlords from Tamworth to come along to this meeting as they may find it useful.
Landlords will be also asked for their views about a local Landlord Accreditation Scheme, which would publicly acknowledge and approve responsible landlords who maintain and manage their properties to a high standard. And, a Domestic Energy Assessor will also be on hand to talk about the ins and outs of Energy Performance Certificates, which private landlords will be legally required to provide to prospective tenants from October 2008.
