Chief Superintendent Mick Harrison Trent Valley's new police commander has pledged to continue working to build the trust and confidence of communities.
Chief Superintendent Mick Harrison has moved to the division from the north of the county where he was Superintendent covering Stoke on Trent.
His new role as Trent Valley's "top cop" involves overseeing policing operations across the division which covers Burton, Tamworth, Lichfield, Uttoxeter and Burntwood.
"One of my first aims is to get out and about in the division to meet officers, staff and neighbourhood policing partners who are working hard to make sure the area remains a safe place for people live, work and enjoy themselves," he said.
Chief Supt Harrison was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in New Zealand before returning to England as a teenager.
He joined Staffordshire police as a cadet in 1978 and worked in Stoke on Trent and Stafford where, as Inspector, he was local policing commander.
His new job in Trent Valley marks a return to the division for Mr Harrison . . . in 1994 he was based in Lichfield covering the south of the county as a member of a specialist police unit.
"I have a good working knowledge of the area and am really looking forward to meeting and hearing the views of members of the many communities which make the area such a great place to work," he said.
Married with two teenage children, Mr Harrison lives in North Staffordshire.
