A fun filled solo adaptation of Jerome K Jerome's On the Stage and Off: The brief career of a would be Actor circa 1880
Rodney Bewes makes a welcome return to the Lichfield Garrick in his new comic one man show, which premièred at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In this fun filled solo adaptation of Jerome K Jerome's first book, On the Stage and Off, Rodney enacts the true story of Jerome's life as a jobbing actor in the 1880s. A rare theatrical treat is in store for everyone, particularly those unfamiliar with Jerome's superb writing.
‘A life of passion, of poetry, of art. I thought all acting was making love in tights to pretty women!'
‘The glorious uncertainty of the boards, however, almost rivals that of the turf!'
A hilarious journey through weekly repertory theatre, touring, pantomime, stock and fit up, until our hero swears never to darken a stage door again
