Council to Team up with Neighbouring Authority

Lichfield District Council is set to team up with Stafford Borough Council to provide shared services for employees.
The Council has been discussing sharing some support services with Stafford Borough Council to cut costs without affecting services to residents.
Stafford has already invested in up to date payroll technology and will host the new service. This means Lichfield District will not have to invest in a new system. With both councils using the same system the costs of running the service will also be shared.
The two councils will also be teaming up to provide Health and Safety services for the authorities. The move will see Lichfield District Council provide an experienced Health and Safety Adviser based at Stafford Borough Council.
Councillor Matthew Ellis, Deputy Leader of Lichfield District Council, said: "With central Government funding reducing in real terms for district and borough councils across the country, Lichfield will continue to find innovative ways of reducing costs and maintaining high quality services. This partnership with Stafford is just one example where local councils in Staffordshire will be working at ways to cooperate and collaborate to offer the best value local government for local people."
