GET IN TRAINING FOR TRIATHLON 2007

Burntwood Leisure Centre is challenging local amateur athletes to pull on their goggles, trainers and cycle shorts and sign up for the annual Burntwood Triathlon, taking place this year on Sunday 20th May.
The fifth Burntwood Triathlon is set to be bigger and better than ever before, and any one who wants to take part in this fun physical challenge, which includes an 800-metre swim, a 32 kilometre cycle and a 8 kilometre run, needs to sign up...and get training, while there's still time.
The popular race, which last year attracted over 100 athletes from around the district and farther a field, is made up of a swim in Burntwood Leisure Centre's swimming pool, a 32 km cycle through Burntwood, Lichfield, Rugeley, Cannock Chase, Hazelslade and back again, and a tough 8km run - which ends with a flat sprint finish.
Mark Wheeler, event organiser, said: "This is a really popular race with amateur triathletes. It's a challenging course, so a great opportunity to test your own ability as well as racing against some of the best amateur athletes around and we also welcome teams of three in their own competition. So if you want to take part, make sure we receive your completed application form before 6th May."
For an entry form, please contact Burntwood Leisure Centre on 01543 308810 or download one from our website, at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/triathlon.
