Police are appealing for help in tracing thieves who robbed security guards as they delivered money to a cash point in Lichfield.
The robbery happened at around 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 31 May), as the delivery was being made to a cash point next to the Waitrose store in Stonnyland Drive.
Thieves, who had their faces covered, grabbed cassettes containing a substantial amount of cash after threatening security guards with a handgun.
They jumped into a waiting black Audi A3 which was later abandoned in nearby Lightwood Close.
One security guard was slightly injured in a brief struggle with one of the robbers. No shots were fired.
Police today appealed for help from any witnesses who were in the area.
Detectives have also appealed to anyone who may have seen the robbers' vehicle being driven to or abandoned in Lightwood Close to come forward.
Detective Inspector Jed White of Trent Valley CID said: "This was a serious incident in which a staff carrying out their daily duties were attacked and robbed.
"We would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch with police to enable us to trace these dangerous offenders as quickly as possible."
Anyone with information is urged to contact Det Insp White at Trent Valley CID, telephone 08453 30 20 10, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
