Lichfield Alzheimer's Society
Lichfield Alzheimer's Society is a great organisation which allows carers of and people with Dementia to receive free information and emotional support.
Carers Support Group
The Lichfield Alzheimer's Society holds regular meetings on the last Thursday of each month at Wade Street Church, Lichfield from 10:30am until 12:30pm. These meetings give the carers a chance to talk to people in a similar situation to themselves. From time to time the Society also organises outings and lunches as well as hosting guest speakers at the meetings during the year.
Information and Support Drop-in Sessions
In addition the Lichfield Alzheimer's Society has just started a Drop-in Session , again for the carers of and people with dementia. These sessions run every Friday from 10am until 12noon at Greenhill Health Centre in Lichfield.
Exercise and Luncheon Club
Exercise and Luncheon Club, meets on the second Thursday of every month at the Garrick Theatre, Lichfield between 10.45am - 1.00pm.
Both carers and people with dementia are welcome to come along and join in. Our exercise class is run by Sue, a qualified "Extend" instructor. The aim of the class is to improve muscle strength and flexibility, bone density, co-ordination and most importantly to have fun.
A healthy lunch is provided after every exercise session where people can have an opportunity to socialise in a comfortable environment. Each session costs only £1.50 and financial support to provide home care can be provided for carers wishing to attend on their own. In order to secure a place telephone reservations must be made 14 days prior to each session.
If you are interested in attending any of the services above or wish to find out more information please do not hesitate to contact the West Midlands Area Office on 01543 255955 or the Lichfield Office on 01543 256020.
