The History of the Society
The Society was formed in 1945 to bring fellow artists together to enjoy each others company, discuss subjects of mutual interest in a friendly atmosphere, organise exhibitions and generally promote and encourage the visual arts in the Lichfield area.

We have members of all ages and abilities. Some of our 240 members are art students, others accomplished amateurs, beginners, leisure artists and professionals.
What membership can mean for you:
Society Meetings
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month (except July and August) at St Chads Church Hall commencing at 7:30pm. These meetings include talks and demonstrations.
Workshops
On the 4th Wednesday of each month workshops take place at St Chads Church Hall where a self help and social atmosphere is enjoyed.
Society Exhibitions
- These are held twice a year in March and October at the Library Gallery in Lichfield and usually last three weeks.
- A semi-permanent unselected exhibition is also held at a surgery in Lichfield and these paintings are changed every six months.
- A number of unselected exhibitions are also organised at The Garrick Theatre.

Video Library
We have an extensive library of art and demonstration videos which members can borrow.
Other Events
The committee organises coach trips to various galleries and special group painting days are also held from time to time. In addition members will receive periodic Society newsletters throughout the year.
Membership
To join you will need to pay a joining fee of £10 and then an annual subscription of £10.
