Artist Matthew Jones launched Lichfield District's Big Draw at Three Spires Shopping Centre on Saturday 13th October.
Over 130 shoppers got creative last Saturday as part of Big Draw - the national campaign to get people drawing. Encouraged by Matthew and Lichfield District Council's Arts Development Officer, Celia Houghton, members of the public drew ‘frames' for their faces round a hole in a blackboard and then posed for a photo with their head through the hole. The photos are now ready to be collected, so if you had a go, pop into the Tourist Information Centre in the Lichfield Garrick and ask for your print.
Celia Houghton said: "The response to the activity on Saturday was great, with loads of people of all ages having a go. I hope everyone takes advantage of the rest of the free activities running throughout October, as I am sure there is something for everyone in the programme."
This Saturday, local artist Kirsty Smith will be holding a fun art session in the Dr Johnson Birthplace museum, Lichfield. She will be encouraging people to have a go at abstract print making with tea cups and saucers. The workshop is open to all so drop in between 12 noon to 4pm on Saturday 20th Oct and have a go.
On Sunday 21st Oct Saranjit Birdi will by riding the trains of Chasewater railway encouraging passengers to draw to the movement of the train. Celia Houghton will be in the Engine Shed with rolls of ten metre long paper, encouraging visitors to draw the trains in pastel crayons. Both artists will be at Chasewater Railway from 10am to 5pm, so come along and have a go.
