Schools teachers 'stressed out'
The amount of stress teachers are put under has led to a significant number thinking about leaving education altogether, according to a new survey.A study by Teachers' TV revealed that a lack of respect among pupils was the biggest cause of stress among the two thirds who felt under intense pressure.
Long hours were also to blame, with the average teacher working longer hours than EU regulations allow.
A lack of support to deal with the pressures was also found to be a leading factor in causing stress.
"Teaching is one of the most demanding professions and it is clear that our teachers are feeling the pressure," commented Andrew Bethell, chief executive of Teachers' TV.
"We need to ensure that there are systems in place to help those teachers who experience stress to access available resources and support networks."
