BRA RECYCLING SCHEME
| Published: 5th June 2008 15:29 |
This week marks Recycle Week and with the national theme being "one more thing you can recycle", recycling officers at Suffolk's Local Authorities have come together to launch a brand new project to recycle bras.
The launch at Aldeburgh (Old bra!) beach marked the beginning of a month long campaign to collect as many unused and unwanted bras up and down Suffolk. Proceeds from the recycling scheme will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Eddy Alcock, Portfolio Holder for environment and waste management said: "Any project which helps divert waste from landfill is worthwhile and this is a fun initiative which hopefully will capture the imagination of Suffolk's residents and encourage people to get involved."
All the bras will be collected at the end of June by BCR Global Textiles and then sent to West Africa where they will be reused and recycled.
