Kernos Quiz Night, Long Melford, 24th March 2017

The Kernos Centre is holding its annual Quiz Night in Long Melford Village Hall on Friday March 24th, the 10th running of this very popular fund-raising event. Doors open at 7.15 for a 7.30 start.

Individual tickets, which can be bought on the door, are £8 and this includes a hot meal and access to a licensed bar! You can either enter the Kernos Quiz as a ready-made team (of up to 8 people) or come along and team up with others on the night. Either way – to assist with the catering – it would be helpful if you could let us know your intention to attend, either by phoning 01787 882883 or e-mailing us at admin@kernos.org.

Last year keen quiz fans managed to raise over £1350 in much-needed funding for our charity, which has been invaluable in helping us to continue our work offering counselling support to people in Sudbury and the surrounding area.

A raffle, including prizes donated by Sainsburys and Waitrose in Sudbury, raised a further £360, making this the most successful Kernos Quiz Night fundraiser ever.

The Kernos Quiz quest this year is to try and top that sum and, to assist in this endeavour, Chris Helliwell, the Quiz Master of the Cock & Bell in Long Melford, has once again volunteered his services. Last year he really made the evening into a wonderful fun event, providing a testing selection of great quiz questions, and he is once again providing his expertise and great sense of humour at no cost.

Last year’s winning team, which generously donated its prize back to Kernos, was Strangers in the Night – team members included Kernos Director David Mayes and his wife Becky along with former Mayors of Sudbury Lesley Ford-Platt and her husband Tony, both strong supporters of Kernos.

The Kernos Centre in Sudbury was opened in April 2003 and provides counselling and support services for locally-based adults, children and young people from 7 years old who have emotional and psychological difficulties.

Financial Director and Trustee Peter Brown says: “The Kernos Quiz is one of our biggest fund-raisers and one of a number of ways in which we try to attract desperately needed funding. The demand for our counselling services and support is growing every year but available funding sources are reducing, so we are deeply grateful to individuals and organisations who are able to support us in this way.”
