Northern Kites is the Project that has returned red kites, spectacular birds of prey, back to the northeast after an absence of 200 years. Red Kites are big beautiful birds of prey with a 6-foot wingspan. They are scavengers and feed on dead animals, worms and beetles. They were once common in the UK but died out through persecution.
