Books ahoy! Young pirates get on board at Kenton and Gosforth Libraries

Kenton and Gosforth youngsters will join thousands of children from around the country in a massive pirate-themed fancy dress party celebrating National Bookstart Day tomorrow (Friday October 10 2008).

Pirate themed story times and activities are taking place in libraries, nurseries and Children's Centres across the city, encouraging families to get reading and helping city under-fives develop a life-long love of books.
Kenton Bar Nursery are coming to visit Kenton Library for a storytime session and to take part in some pirate themed activities
from 9.45am until 11.00am tomorrow, and the storytime at Gosforth Library at 10.30 will be pirate themed.
There will be plenty of booty for youngsters to plunder, including books, stickers, bookmarks, on offer at the sessions.

Bookstart week, run by the book trust, aims to help every child in the UK to develop a lifelong love of books and to help children and parents discover the joy of reading together.
