Urgent Request from Local Hospice

St Oswald's Hospice is organising the first ever Midnight Walk to be held in Newcastle on Saturday 18th October and they are desperate for extra volunteers to help marshal the event.
The 10 mile walk starts and finishes at Newcastle Racecourse, and passes the Hospice at the halfway point.
Viv Williamson, community fundraiser at St Oswald's, said:
"Marshals are a vital part of this event - without them we simply couldn't go ahead. Around forty local people have already volunteered their time but with nine hundred walkers signed up, we still desperately seeking more help.
"Duties will include anything from helping with registration, handing out cuppas and medals, to marshalling the route. There's something to suit everyone. No experience is necessary, all that we ask is that you are over eighteen and are reliable. Marshals will work in teams of two so people can join with friends or family, or on their own and meet people. It will be a special night and a great experience."
Volunteer Marshals will be required from around 9pm on the Saturday night. All Marshals will be rewarded with a breakfast buttie and a hot cuppa once the walkers have completed the walk.
Anyone interested in marshalling the event should call Lyn Cain on 0870 700 30 30, email lyncain@stoswaldsuk.org or visit www.stoswaldsuk.org
