The Hoppings come to Newcastle

This Friday 19th June sees the opening of the Hoppings. Advertised as "Europe's largest funfair", the Newcastle Hoppings will last until Saturday 27th June and will attract 10s of thousands of visitors to the town moor. Opening times are 1.30 - 11pm daily.

Local police have been reassuring residents of Jesmond and Gosforth that all will be done to make sure that there is as little disruption as possible. Uniformed patrols, plain clothes police, Community Support Officers and motor patrols will be working to ensure a peaceful event.
Neighbourhood Inspector for the area, Ronnie Lowes, said: "Thousands of people visit the fair every day and the vast majority are out to enjoy themselves.
"There are a few who cause trouble and these are the ones we will be looking out for. We will be monitoring the fair and dealing firmly with anyone intent on spoiling the enjoyment of others at the Hoppings or anyone causing a nuisance to residents."
