The Empire Cinema at the Gate
Travel by metro to Monument or bus to Haymarket. There is parking in the basement of the Gate but this fills up quickly at peak times so arrive early, have a meal at one of the many restaurants and make a night of it!

It is possible to get to the Metro Centre by public transport from the Gosforth area but it's a lot of hassle, especially as there's free parking close to the cinema in the BLUE quadrant.

The Odeon / UCI Cinema at the Silverlink Retail Park
It used to be the UCI but now it's calling itself an Odeon! Head out along the Coast Road by car to this one. Although it's on a retail park there is a restaurant next door if you have time to kill when the shops are shut.

This cinema is currently in Gateshead while the original 1937 building in the heart of Newcastle undergoes extensive renovation. Even so the Tyneside Cinema is worth crossing the river for - if you are looking for something a little more unusual then this cinema is for you. You will find independent films and foreign language films as well as related talks and courses.
