Avon Valley School In Rugby Is Celebrating Their Revolutionary Homework Scheme

Avon Valley School Homework Revolution Is Celebrated

Over the last two years staff and students at The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College have embraced a homework revolution by using homework tracking website Show My Homework. The school's success was recently shared at the BETT Show in London.

In 2014 The Avon Valley School introduced the homework setting website and issued unique log in details to all
students, teachers and parents. Logging into the system allows teachers to set their classes homework activities, which can include interactive quizzes and useful documents. When students and parents log in to the system they can access
all activities that have been set, and can see deadlines and can download the documents.

Following the successful implementation of system and high usage rates The Avon Valley School was asked to take part in a case study which used to celebrate and promote the website. The new case study was recently shared at the BETT Show, which is the UK's biggest education technology event.

Danielle Susulowsky, Account Manager at SMHW says "The Avon Valley School are a great example of a modern,
forward-thinking establishment. Their use of Show My Homework has been extensive, providing parents with a transparent overview of exactly what's happening in the school, supporting child's learning and working to share
quality home-learning resources among teaching staff.

They are a fantastic example of a school adopting and embracing tools to extend learning and provide the best possible outcome for their school community."

Dan Phelan, Achievement Leader, said "In the Autumn Term alone almost 2000 pieces of homework were set. As a school we've worked hard to ensure that all members of staff have been trained to use the system and every student, and parent, has had their unique user details."

Alison Davies, Headteacher, said, "I have received lots of positive feedback about the system and I am pleased that it is now embedded across the school."

The website was originally launched by Teacher Centric in 2011 and aims to make the setting of homework transparent
and more accessible for teachers, students, parents and carers.
