Hill Lane Playground upgrade

Hillingdon Council is very pleased to confirm it has been granted £75,000 Chrysalis funding for upgrading the Hill Lane Playground. In addition, £30,000 funding from Street Champions has been granted in the current financial year, for general improvements and park furniture.
A group of local residents, the Hill Lane Hurricanes, has been set up to improve the Hill Lane Playground. The Hill Lane Hurricanes are assisting the Council with a public consultation, currently underway, to determine how the funding will be applied. The Hill Lane Hurricanes also propose to hold a number of fund raising events including a fun-day to launch the playground's renovations.
Chrysalis funding to upgrade the park had been unsuccessfully applied for in the three most recent years but this time, because the proposal was so strongly supported by the community, the bid has been successful.
Cllr Philip Corthorne, local ward councillor and Hillingdon's Cabinet member for Adult social care, health and housing said "We have seen how, through community involvement and hard work, we can realise our aspirations - and make this long neglected area something to be proud of. Improving the playground will benefit all, while at the same time promoting community safety".
Chief Inspector Maurice Hartnett said: "I'm really pleased that the Hill Lane playground will be upgraded. The project is a great example of what can be achieved with the community, council and Safer Neighbourhoods Teams all working together".
David Bryant, Parks and Cemeteries Manager said "We are delighted to be able to work closely with the local residents to improve Hill Lane Playground. It's great to see the interest and passion the locals have for the site, which is shared by the Green Spaces Team."
The Community Leadership Team are always happy to support and advise any other groups who wish to get actively involved in effecting positive change in their community. To do so, please call Carys Walker on 01895 250 118 or email cwalker1@hillingdon.gov.uk
