Actress and Strictly star Zoe Lucker says start the New Year by signing up for the NSPCC’s Aerobathon

Author: Julie Pengelly Published: 12th January 2010 16:28

Zoe Lucker, Actress and Strictly Come Dancing star is calling on people in London to get fit this New Year by taking part in the NSPCC's biggest ever Aerobathon on Monday 8 February 2010.

Over 150 leisure centres are taking part across the UK to support the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal, including 27 leisure centres from across London*. The sponsored two-hour aerobic workout will be led by qualified instructors at exactly the same time in each location, from 6-8pm.

Commenting on the NSPCC's Aerobathon, Zoe Lucker, said: "I fully support the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal and urge people in London to take part in the NSPCC's Aerobathon. Money raised will help the NSPCC to grow its Helpline for adults concerned about a child, and its ChildLine service. This will help protect more children around the UK. It will be a great event and fantastic fun with over 150 events across the UK taking place at the same time. As a mum myself I understand how precious children are, so please sign up now."

For further details about the Aerobathon and to register please visit www.nspcc.org.uk/aerobathon, email at londonaerobathon@npscc.org.uk, call 0207 650 3200 or pick up a leaflet in participating leisure centres. Registration costs £5 which includes entry to the event and an NSPCC Aerobathon t-shirt.

Danny Crabb, NSPCC local fundraising manager said: "This is the first year the NSPCC has organised the Aerobathon across the UK. This is a great way to blitz the new year calories we tend to accumulate and have fun at the same time, so why not sign up with friends, family and colleagues and encourage anyone you know to sign up too?  We hope to see hundreds of people taking part to help raise money for our Child's Voice Appeal."

Overall the NSPCC hopes the Aerobathon will raise over £425,000 nationally for the Child's Voice Appeal. With public support, the appeal will help to expand the NSPCC's vital helpline services - ChildLine the UK's free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children and the NSPCC Helpline for adults concerned about a child. Everyone can support the Child's Voice Appeal at http://www.childsvoiceappeal.org.uk/.
