Elephant to star in park display

A giant African elephant is set to be one of the start attractions of this year's Gardeners' Weekend show in King Heath Park.
It's part of one of the award-winning floral and garden displays that will be attracting gardening enthusiasts from across the Midlands.
Staff at Kings Heath Park itself created the stunning display for the BBC Gardeners' World show, where it received a gold medal from the Royal Horticultural Society. Their creation highlights the plight of wildebeest migrating from Tanzania through to Nairobi.
The future of the majestic beasts has been placed in jeopardy by the encroachment of residential and industrial development into the wildebeest's usual migratory path.
The garden features a fascinating range of plants, including Aloes, Pennisteums, Cadelabra, Euphorbia and Pyrenancantha malvifolia.
For the less knowledgeable about plants - and children visiting the family show - there are almost life size sculptures of animals including elephants and giraffes.
