The organisers of south Birmingham's biggest charity firework display have announced the theme of this year's event - and the good causes set to benefit by thousands of pounds.
The aerial extravaganza at Kings Heath Cricket Club on Sunday 8 November will be to a musical backdrop inspired by the popular TV series ‘Strictly Come Dancing'. Kings Heath skies will light up to the sounds of the Kaiser Chiefs, Scissor Sisters and Alesha Dixon as TV's hottest dance show provides the backdrop to Moseley Round Table's annual charity fireworks display.
"Following the success of last year's sci-fi theme, the organisers have come back down to earth," says Moseley Round Table spokesperson Lee McLaughlan.
Among the charity initiatives Moseley Round Table has backed this year are a lunch for more than 100 ex-servicemen and women to mark Veteran's Day at Swanshurst School, Nahid Ahmed's three-month volunteer programme in Ecuador, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Rheumatology Department Research Fund and Round Table Children's Wish.
Gates open at 5pm at the cricket ground, located on Alcester Road South, with a fun fair, live music from Birmingham Conservatoire musicians, a licensed bar plus other refreshments and food and a variety of stalls to keep everyone occupied until the launch at 7pm.
The fireworks display is again being conducted by the West Midlands' award-winning Jubilee Fireworks, who currently have two British titles to their name and were the first UK company to win the world championships.
