This well established restaurant has done a lot to promote the reputation of Poplar Road, where there is an eclectic mix of independent retailers.
It has become a very popular eating place with its contemporary décor and friendly welcome. There is a wide range of Kashmiri dishes, the inevitable balti and quite a few speciality twists. Regulars say it offers very good value for money too.
Some of the regulars even feature on the Spice Merchant's wall of fame by the bar, although top billing is reserved for the owner Abid's various encounters with Bollywood stars.
The restaurant is open every day from 5pm until 11.30 (Sunday to Thursday) and until midnight on Friday and Saturday and also offers a takeaway service.
