How to vote

If you live in Birmingham and are on the electoral roll you are entitled to vote in the local election on Thursday 1 May.
You should be on the list if you are over 18 and a citizen of the UK, most Commonwealth countries or a member state of the European Union. The closing date for updating the register before this election is Wednesday 16 April.
Everyone entitled to vote should receive a polling card telling them when and where to vote. You do not need this card to vote, but it helps. You can also vote by post and by proxy (getting someone else to vote on your behalf).
The closing date for new proxy vote applications is 23 April, or 5pm on polling day if it's because of a medical emergency. The closing date for new postal votes is 16 April.
Voting takes place on Thursday 1 May between 7am and 10pm.
