One of three councillors representing Brandwood Ward
(There are two Conservatives and one Labour)
Conservative Neville Summerfield was elected to the city council in May 2003 and will face re-election next year (May 2008).
He was a back bencher until October 2007, when a surprise appointment by Council Leader Mike Whitby elevated him to Cabinet rank. He takes on the regeneration role previously held by the late Cllr Ken Hardeman, also of Brandwood.
Cllr Summerfield studied music at Royal Holloway College and then worked as a teacher for five years before becoming a local shopkeeper. He is secretary of the Kings Heath Business Association and runs a florists in Polar Road.
