Janice Connolly

Kings Heath actress Janice Connolly is famed for her comedy creation Mrs Barbara Nice.
Barbara is your average Stockport housewife who given up the domestic bliss of Tupperware and Poundstretcher shops for the unpredictability of the comedy world. No audience is too rowdy for her to handle - she's already raised five teenagers. With the affectionate attitude of a playgroup leader at a wild Iggy Pop concert, Barbara is guaranteed to warm the heart of any audience.
Having supported both Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay, (she is probably best known for her role as Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights) Barbara is now a circuit headline act in her own right, as well as being one of the most experienced comperes in the country. She has also performed solo shows in Edinburgh (Stand and Guilded Balloon), Brighton (Komedia and Pavilion Theatre) and Manchester (The Lowry).

Janice has just returned from another successful show ‘Hiya and Higher' at the Edinburgh Fringe (click for review of this show) - which can also be seen closer to home at the mac on 29 November.
This Christmas Janice will be heading north again for Panto season. She is playing the Slave of the Ring in Aladdin at the Tameside Hippodrome.

3.
Who would you most like to invite to your home and why?
I'd invite whoever it is that keeps dropping litter on the High Street.
I would like to get them to stop it.
4.
Other places in your life
I was born in Stockport and went to Stockport High School For Girls. I like Brighton very much -because of the range of small shops and would like to see even more than we have at the moment. I am pleased that The Hare and Hounds is up and running as a venue as I also like living in an area that values live entertainment.
5.
What has been the best moment of your life so far?
When my children were born
6.
And what has been the worst?
My daughter has just left to go to University -it wasn't exactly the worse moment but I was shocked by the pain I felt at her going.
7.
Who or what has been the biggest influence on your life?
I love show business.
8.
Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with?
The man whose job it is to fix the lift
9.
Who is the most famous person you have met - and what were the circumstances of the meeting?
I have met quite a few famous people because of my work. I think I was most star-struck by Sir Ian McKellan.
10.
Soccer or Rugby?
Football - although my son played mini rugby for Moseley for many years and that was all very nice.

Pounds and ounces, Can't get my head round all the millimetres stuff
12.

Like both equally. though this Autumn has been really spectacular.

Gordon.
Although I do think The Tories have played a blinder with the promise to ditch the inheritance tax. I think Gordon should scrap it now and take the wind out of their sails.

As someone who has done both I think they are very different and that we need both -as long as they are funny of course.
