Silversoles is a range of contemporary felted textiles for the home and to wear. Each piece is unique, having been hand crafted using traditional wet rolling and Nuno felting techniques, to create distinctive textiles. Using a range of luxury natural fibres, including merino wool, silks and native breed wools, the felts have a tactile quality that is hard to resist!
Silversoles designs combine colour, pattern and texture, often embellished with embroidery, appliqué and beading to create a sensory feast!
Silversoles is the design label of textile designer /maker Emma Jackson who specialises in felt making.
Emma was introduced to felt making in 1998, and has been passionate about it ever since. She first exhibited her felted textiles in 2002 and, encouraged by the enthusiastic response, took the plunge two years later to concentrate solely on her career as a textile artist.
Each piece is individually designed and handcrafted. Emma works with a range of materials and felting techniques, so her work is continually changing and evolving. Recently she has been exploring the potentials of un-dyed native breed wools, marrying together and contrasting the subtle colours and textures of the different wools. She has also been very excited by the technique of Nuno felting, a process of combining wool with silk and other fabrics to create unique tactile surfaces. This gives the impression of fragility, yet produces robust and durable fabrics.
