Green for stop in war against graffiti

Graffiti-covered street equipment is starting to disappear from the streets of Moseley and Kings Heath.
Virgin Media cable boxes have until now been painted a light grey colour at the insistence of Birmingham City Council. That has made them the favourite targets of vandals because the graffiti ‘tags' show up so well.
The BT equipment, which is painted dark green, is much less prone to vandalism.
Now, after the intervention of local councillor Martin Mullaney, Virgin is being allowed to repaint its cable boxes in the darker colour.
"Moseley and Kings Heath Ward along with Springfield Ward were recently found in a Council survey to the only Wards in south and west Birmingham to be reversing the trend of ever increasing graffiti tagging," says Cllr Mullaney.
The first boxes to be painted in the new graffiti resistant colour this week are in Chantry Road, Moseley and the stretch of the main road from Moseley Village to Kings Heath.
