Kings Heath churches unite for "world's last chance on climate"

Kings Heath churches are organising a weekend of events to mark what they are describing as the world's last chance to stop runaway climate change.
They say the weekend of 3-4 October will be an opportunity to learn and reflect about the climate in crisis, and the importance of the United Nations summit in Copenhagen.
The main event will be a screening of the controversial and hard-hitting film ‘The Age of Stupid' in All Saints Church Hall, organised in association with Birmingham Friends of the Earth.
"This film is about the importance and urgency of saving the planet," says John Wilkinson, the former vicar of All Saints.
The Age of Stupid' is a thought-provoking drama-documentary from the director of 'McLibel' and the producer of the Oscar-winning 'One Day in September'. It stars Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching 'archive' footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change while we had the chance?
All Saints in Kings Heath is putting on six free screenings of the film on Saturday 3 October.
Then on Sunday there is a day of prayer for the climate - including a family service at All Saints at 11am and a vigil at the Baptist Church, opposite Somerfields, between 2pm and 6pm.

As the film is a 12A certificate, there is a creche for under-12s for the 12 noon and 2pm screenings. Booking essential
