Plea to revive Kings Heath neighbourhood forum

Kings Heath residents are being urged to attend a meeting aimed at reviving the Kings Heath Neighbourhood Forum.
The Forum collapsed earlier this year when it was unable to attract enough people to its AGM.
After a council-organised meeting to encourage a revival was also poorly attended recently, two local residents have issued an appeal for people to attend another meeting this evening (Tuesday 23 November).
Writing an open letter to residents via AboutMyArea, Tom Tierney says the only neighbourhood voice to represent the whole of Kings Heath could be lost forever.
Tom Tierney's letter...
Dear Kings Heath residents
We have a great opportunity to re-start our Neighbourhood Forum but if we don't take action we may lose this voice forever. The Forum can be a really significant part of our community. Looking at the success of Moseley Forum, we can see the potential. I would strongly urge anyone who cares about the area to come to the meeting at 7.30 on Tuesday 23rd Nov in the Heathfield Rd Community Centre.
There are big risks for us if we end up being one of the few areas of the City without a local voice for residents at this time, especially given the scale of cuts in on the way.
It seems to me we need :-
- good residents representation in Kings Heath
- residents representation on an equal footing to the strong business representation locally
- willingness to engage with councillors, council officers and other public services
- neighbourhood forum status - the Council recognises forums formally
- voice in local planning applications
- ability to access local information on a broad front
- right to be represented on the Ward Advisory Board
The Forum is supported by the Council's Hall Green constituency office.
