The science of eating well

Two food experts are taking over a local café for the evening to run an extra healthy cookery course.
The special class at Maison Mayci in Kings Heath aims to teach a small group of people all about using fresh, seasonal and home-grown food - as well as showing how eating well can be healthy.
It is being run by Tom Baker and Vladimir Niza who claim almost 20 years of experience in food, nutrition and fine dining between them. Tom is a professional nutritionist working for the NHS in Birmingham, while Vladimir worked most recently as a development chef and then senior tutor at Raymond Blanc's Cookery School at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Oxfordshire.
"In many minds, good food and good nutrition is a contradiction," says Tom. "Fortunately today science has proven beyond any doubt, that food is the most vital factor for quality and longevity of life. This is good news for us ‘bons vivants' that good food and good nutrition can at last be married."
The Loaf Cookery School is at Maison Mayci, Polar Road, Kings Heath on Thursday 26 June, 7-9pm
