Some great football legends will be playing in Kings Heath to help raise funds for a local charity.
The Aston Villa Old Stars are set to play a team from Birmingham St Mary's Hospice on Sunday 18 April 2010, kicking off at 2.30pm at The West Midlands Travel Sports and Social Society Stadium in Kings Heath.
After the match there will be an auction held at Vaughan's Social Club in Hall Green where there will be an opportunity for people to meet some of the Aston Villa Old Stars.
Hospice Community Fundraiser; Joanne Proudler said: "Local man Kieran Lavin, a volunteer at the Hospice and follower of Aston Villa, wanted to combine his passion for the team with raising money for our cause so doing a charity football match just seemed the perfect option. The match has the potential to raise thousands of pounds for Birmingham St Mary's but we need the support of the local community to help us achieve this goal.
"We're looking for kind people to support us in the way of sponsorship. Ideally we'd love to secure an official match sponsor but we'd also like to find someone who is willing to donate the kit, sponsor the refreshments for the players, someone to offer a design and print service to help us produce a match day programme. Our plea list is endless but we'll be extremely grateful for any help anyone can give."
Each year around 1,000 patients are referred to Birmingham St Mary's Hospice, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2009, in the later stages of their lives through illness. The expert care and support provided to patients, their families and loved ones is all free of charge.
If you can help with this event please call Jo Proudler at the Hospice on 0121 472 1191.
