Grapevine provides leader for new Spon End walk
Mark Crabbe is the latest volunteer walk leader recruited by the Coventry Let's Walk team who have been working alongside Grapevine to design a community walk in Spon End.
Mark said, "It makes me feel happy to become a Healthy Walks' leader in Spon End. I am really going to enjoy walking, and getting to know the people who come along the most."
Darren Cannan, Community Worker at the Centre, and Etain McDermott, Healthy Lifestyle Coordinator at Coventry City Council will support Mark, from Grapevine.
Darren Cannan, said, "As a walk leader Mark is offering people in Spon End a useful service in combating poor health and he is making friends at the same time. His valued role sends out a powerful message about the untapped potential and positive contribution that anyone can make to their community."
The walk starts on Monday 20 August 2007 and will meet at the Oasis Café, Upper Spon Street at 10.30am every Monday.
The Healthy Walks Team is supported by the Coventry Let's Walk project, funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. The project is always looking to recruit more volunteer healthy walks leaders to deliver local walks.
