Blaze confirm Exhibition game pre season schedule.

Published: 30th June 2008 12:06
On Saturday 30th August, Blaze will visit the Mobilx
Newcastle Vipers in the first of back to back
challenge games (face off 6.30pm), with the second
game taking place at the Skydome Arena in Coventry the
following night on Sunday 31st August (face off 6pm).

The Blaze pre season schedule will conclude with the
Charity Shield game against Sheffield Steelers at the
Skydome on Wednesday 3rd September (face off 7.45pm).
The fixture was launched last season as a battle
between league and playoff champions that saw the GMB
Nottingham Panthers edge out the Blaze by a single
goal.

The game was a huge success, raising significant sums
of money for charity and the hockey development
programmes of both teams. League champions, Blaze are
delighted to be hosting the second such event against
the playoff champions, Sheffield at the start of the
new season.

Blaze Head Coach, Paul Thompson is looking forward to
his team's pre season schedule.

"I'm delighted with the schedule to be honest. It's
very similar to last season when I felt we had really
good early preparation for the season ahead. The game
against the GB under 20's will be great to get the
legs going and will also give me the chance with my GB
hat on, to take a closer look at some of the country's
up and coming talent..

"Newcastle provided us with great challenge games last
season and both Rob Wilson and myself felt that it
would be good for both of us to repeat the exercise
again this season. Fans, players and management of
both teams like playing each other so it will be a
great pair of games to look forward to.

"The Charity Shield was a great introduction last
season and it does raise a lot of money for good
causes. Both Sheffield and ourselves really wanted to
keep this going in the hockey calendar and we are
delighted to be hosting it this year. It's great fun
but very competitive and it should be a great last
game before we get down to regular season action."

Ticket information for all games will be available
over the next few weeks.
