Wolverhampton parents fight school closure

Wolverhampton parents are fighting to save their children's school from being closed down.
Campaigners met councillors and gave them a petition in a bid to demonstrate how important Eccleshall Primary School is in community life.
It was one of several in the West Midlands to take part in an epilepsy awareness pilot scheme in March, during which staff were trained to deal with seizures and also learnt about how to prevent stigma and manage children with the condition.
Wolverhampton City Council is proposing to shut the school down next summer because pupil numbers have been falling.
It has an obligation to the government and local taxpayers to make sure education is cost effective, which means ensuring minimum class sizes.
Despite the talks, Eccleshall has already been taken off the list of primary schools on its website.
