2008 Series
This season we feature some of the cornerstones of the Choral repertory. Handel's Messiah needs little introduction but it will be a rare treat to hear it performed by the next generation of musicians. Monteverdi's setting of Vespers is one of the great set pieces of early 17th century liturgical music. This performance with a large choir and spectacular Period Instrument Orchestra will bring the glories of music at St Mark's in Venice to St Matthew's Chapel Allerton!
Music for the liturgy on a more intimate scale is provided by The University Liturgical Choir and The Choir of St Matthew's whilst St Matthew's organ gets another chance to shine when we welcome organist Nigel Gotteri to join the choir for their Advent concert.
For repertoire in a lighter vein in the Autumn we welcome Leeds Gilbert and Sullivan Society in a programme of favourite music by G&S and others.
We hope you will find these events enjoyable and we look forward to welcoming you to our third concert series.
