Toddlers eat for free in major child-friendly initiative by Heathcotes
All children under three will now eat completely free of charge in all Simply Heathcotes and Olive Press restaurants as part of a major family-friendly initiative.
The move is just one of a series of ideas being introduced at some of chef Paul Heathcote's key restaurants and is designed to encourage families to spend quality time together over a meal out.
Other elements of the programme being planned include children's activities and entertainment being introduced on Sundays, plus staff training in dealing with young children.
Every toddler under three can now choose from a menu worth £7.50, which includes a main course, dessert and a drink - and their parents won't be charged a penny for it.
Paul Heathcote said: ‘People lead such busy lives these days that sometimes it becomes difficult to take time out as a family.
‘These initiatives are being introduced to encourage parents to spend time with their children in our restaurants, particularly on a Sunday.
‘We've always placed a good deal of importance on being child-friendly - and we like to think we're already more geared up than most at welcoming families. Indeed, we've already won several major awards recognising this sort of thing - however, these steps will take those principles even further.'
Several Heathcotes restaurants have won awards for their child-friendly measures. The Observer Food Monthly Awards named Simply Heathcotes Liverpool as the best place for kids in the North West. Meanwhile, the Olive Press in Manchester has been nominated in the Manchester Food and Drink Festival for its Best Family Friendly venue.
The kids eat for free initiative applies to the Olive Press in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Warrington, Bolton and Clitheroe, as well as Simply Heathcotes in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Wrightington. The Winckley Square Chop House is also running the initiative.
