Dogs for the Disabled

Dogs for the Disabled is a National Charity, based in Oxford, who train specially selected dogs to become assistance dogs, aiding disabled children and adults with a variety of practical tasks from picking up dropped objects to carrying shopping baskets and emptying the washing machine !
The charity has just opened a regional training and fundraising centre in Nostell, Wakefield, which will help support disabled people already paired with dogs in Yorkshire and the North of England and will provide facilities to train new assistance dogs for the local people who are on our waiting list to receive the practical help and emotional support of one of our very special dogs.
We need volunteers from all areas of Yorkshire, particularly Leeds, to help us with a variety of tasks from fostering one of our dogs in training to attending supermarket collections. Hours will be to suit you. We would also love to hear from;
Community Groups and Schools - Would you like a visit from one of our clients and their dog to see the work we do and hear how it benefits disabled individuals in your community? Are you considering holding a fundraising event or adopting a charity?
Businesses - Would your company like to get involved with our fundraising? We have a variety of ways, tailored to your needs, that you could help.
Individuals - Are you taking on a challenge, from a sporting event to a weight loss programme? If so, please consider asking your friends and family to sponsor you on our behalf. We can provide you everything you need to get started.
We will be holding open days at our new centre on the last Friday of every month, the next 3 being
Friday 25th July, Friday 29th August, Friday 26th September.
Book your place today and see our dogs in action!
