(1)  Welcome!

Welcome to the new Chapel Allerton NPT page on AboutMyArea

The county`s five districts are served by 47 new Neighbourhood Policing Teams that perfectly match up with local authority wards. The Inspector led teams are made up of sergeants, constables and police community support officers.

West Yorkshire Police is increasing and enhancing its commitment to this style of policing that the public want to see. Each new Neighbourhood Policing Team has been tailored to their local community. This will enable them to work closely with the public and partners, listen to their concerns and act upon them.

The launch of our new neighbourhood teams will ensure a locally delivered Policing service that is fully in touch with our partners and the communities we serve.

The team (please see contact details below) will be working hard in the forthcoming weeks to identify opportunities to engage with and meet members of the public. This site will develop as the officers become more involved within the neighbourhood and the list of contact opportunities extends.

We are keen to work together with other partners / organisations and groups to help to deliver solutions to the things that really matter to you. Drop us a line to the email address below and let us know about issues that concern you.

If you have any information to offer then please speak to any officer in the street or at the station or contact us on the details on this page.

Alternatively you can ring crime stoppers on 0800 555111. Your call is free, you do not have to give your number and you may receive a reward.

(2) Vehicle Crime In Your Area!

Police Capture Car Success

Police in Chapel Allerton NPT have recorded a success in their recent drive against vehicle crime in the Ward. Recently officers from the local Policing and vehicle crime teams joined forces in a policing operation to target people committing vehicle crime in the Chapel Allerton ward area. Extra officers in plain clothes were deployed into the area of Chapel Allerton where a marked increase in theft from vehicles had been experienced.

Also deployed was the Forces `Capture Car` to compliment the efforts of the Policing teams. The Capture Car is equipped with the latest detection technology. Once thieves have broken into the vehicle they are monitored by concealed CCTV and exposed to a liquid based property marking solution through which they can later be identified.

On the evening of Monday the 5th of May 2008 one such vehicle was targeted by an offender whilst deployed in the Chapel Allerton area. The technology was able to allow the Police to quickly identify the suspect and as a result one man aged 36 has now been arrested and charged.

Inspector Tony Reed of Chapel Allerton Neighbourhood Policing Team, North East Leeds, said: "We are delighted by the success of the Capture car. Our analysis allows us to utilise the vehicle based on crime trends and intelligence to give us the best chance to catch those responsible. We will continue to utilise this vehicle and others like it where required. The message to those responsible is simple; if you break into a car then you can expect a call from North East Leeds Police."

We continue to look to residents in our area to take a stand, to tackle crime and the fear of crime. If anyone has any information to offer then they can contact us on 0845 6060606 or in confidence on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
By following the following basic procedures you can assist us in reducing vehicle crime.
Lock all doors and close all windows.
Remove anything of value from view and from the vehicle.
Remove such things as sat-nav holders, offenders will bank on the sat nav being hidden in the car.
Park in a well lit area.
Fit an alarm
Use your garage if you have one.

Report any suspicious activity to us especially if you find anything of interest on your own CCTV. For example, has the condensation been wiped from your vehicle window during the night?
