WELCOME FOR ‘FIFTEEN' IN LEEDS
A senior Leeds councillor is welcoming plans to open a new ‘Fifteen' restaurant in Leeds.
Cllr Andrew Carter, deputy leader and executive board member with responsibility for development says it's ‘fantastic news'.
Fifteen is the charitable group founded by chef Jamie Oliver to inspire and train young people to become chefs. This week, the board of trustees of the Fifteen Foundation charity agreed to back a business plan to open in the city.
The proposed site of the restaurant would be the Dark Arches at Holbeck Urban Village in the centre of Leeds and it will open in about 18 months time.
Cllr Andrew Carter said:
"Leeds City Council has supported this proposal all along.
Fifteen is a great example of social enterprise and gives young people the chance to learn new skills, do something worthwhile and make a difference to their lives.
The fact Jamie Oliver's Foundation wants to come to our city proves our success at attracting organisations to invest here. This new restaurant will help achieve our aim of putting Leeds on the international map and creating more opportunities for our young people."
Jamie Oliver said:
"It's always exciting when a new Fifteen is being discussed.
I hope we continue to get the support from local partners to be able to create a brilliant restaurant in Leeds which will attract customers from all over the world and help local young people at the same time."
