Outstanding Inspection Results for Chapel Allerton School

Friday 13th is unlucky for some - but not the teachers and children at the Alcuin School who spent the day celebrating full ISA accreditation in their most recent inspection.
The Alcuin School, nestled in the leafy North Leeds suburb of Chapel Allerton, underwent a rigorous inspection in March by the Independent Schools Inspectorate - the school received a glowing report and is now a member of the Independent Schools Association.
The Independent Schools Inspectorate, which enjoys the full support of DCSF and Ofsted, found the school to provide a good all-round education that helps children succeed academically and grow as individuals. The children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development was shown to be outstanding. Teachers were found to be knowledgeable and effective and able to forge excellent relationships with the children.
Children are encouraged to achieve academically, on the sports field and in the unusually large range of extra curricular activities offered. In particular, inspectors remarked how much the children enjoyed their time at school and noted that they are extended in all areas including art, music, drama and sport.
Head Teacher, Mr John Hipshon commented: "I am absolutely delighted by the Independent Schools Inspectorate report. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at the school. We have a very distinctive approach at Alcuin, one that runs through the way we teach, the content of the lessons, extra-curricular activities and even our lunch menu! It is always rewarding for independent assessment to confirm what we regularly hear from our parents."
Alcuin is a highly distinctive, compact yet affordable independent school. Established in 1994, it is a member of a family of 13 schools world wide who draw inspiration from The School of Philosophy. The richness, variety and colour of this buzzing school extend beyond the walls of its elegant early 20th Century premises. Relative to its size the school raises huge amounts for charities, and the success of its netball and chess teams bring to mind the David and Goliath epic. The ISI report said that communication with parents was outstanding.
This inspection confirms Alcuin as a school that is successful on its own terms, and is rightly proud to be distinctive. The positive conclusion of the ISA is a suitable reward for the exceptional commitment and dedication of everyone at the school.
