Leeds Waterfront Festival
Leeds waterfront played host to an array of activities throughout the weekend; from street theatre and live bands, to on the water activities and live cooking demonstrations; there was something for every age and taste.

Despite the rainy weather, four waterfront sites; Thwaite Mills, Clarence Dock, Brewery Wharf and newly added Granary Wharf attracted people from all over Yorkshire to the river for a fun-filled day of activities.
Spirits weren't dampened by the rain with traders boasting good sales throughout the weekend, Claire Murphy, who sells homemade vintage style fashion accessories, said ‘It's been really good, the people are still coming and there's such a great atmosphere this year'.

Leeds Waterfront Festival is designed to bring residents to the river to enjoy all it has to offer.
‘This was the darkest part of the city, ignored for many years, today we're here to celebrate the treasure we have', Hilary Benn MP declared as he officially opened the festival, ‘This is a celebration about everything great about Leeds and a celebration about everything that is great about the waterfront'.
Chapel Allerton's own Urban Angels dazzled audiences with their astonishing acrobatic display. ‘The Festival brings a bit of colour to the city. We've performed all over the world but it's always great to get back to our patch and perform in Leeds', said Deborah Sanderson, Urban Angels' founder.

The event was also beneficial for the fledging Granary Wharf site; the newly developed waterside location now holds many restaurants and bars including The Hop. With free beer tasting and live acoustic musicians including a steel band playing throughout the weekend, new bar The Hop has taken advantage of the promotion opportunity Leeds Waterfront Festival offered.

Because of the festival- ‘more people are realising there's no longer just a car park up here; we're a great venue and we've been able to show how good Granary Wharf has become', said manager Tom Baker.
Leeds Waterfront Festival has once again been a huge success for the city, allowing Leeds to celebrate the gem that is our waterfront. Let's just hope for better weather next year!
